130 years Gallus - a brand with tradition

Heinrich Vogels (1840 – 1926) - the founder of Gallus - is the father of the success of the high quality men’s shoes.

Gallus can look back on a long and successful company history:
The Vogels family establishes Gallus in 1880 in the district of Viersen.
An eventful time In Germany:
As the first German Reich Chancellor, Otto von Bismarck introduces social laws (health and accident insurance) and Germany goes economically and socially through a tense period of industrialisation.
In 1970, the second Gallus factory is set up in Carinthia. Not even nine years later, Gallus files a patent application for the brand Liberty and advances from common shoe manufacturer to become a producer of comfortable and functional shoes.
A Dutch company takes over the Gallus Group in 1997.
Following the closure of the German location in 2000, production was completely relocated to Austria.
Since 2005, the brand belongs to the Deichmann Group and provides a wide range of high quality men's shoes.
